About Dr. Myra Maxwell

Dr. Myra Maxwell was made Director of Philadelphia Crisis Assistance, Response, and Engagement (CARES) for Survivors by the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office (DAO) in October 2018. She has a Doctorate in Human Services and a Masters of Health Sciences in Human Services Administration. She is a pastor of Trinity United Methodist and vice president of the board of directors for Women Organized Against Rape (WOAR). Prior to joining the DAO, Maxwell worked as the Anti-Violence Partnership of Philadelphia’s Faith Director and Transition Director, assisting families of homicide victims in the immediate wake of their loss and dealing with survivors of intimate partner violence. She was crucial in the formation and administration of Philadelphia CARES, which has been giving support and assistance to the families of Philadelphia’s slain victims since 2018.
