End Child Sexual Violence Campaign in North-Eastern Nigeria
The campaign to end child sexual violence in Wukari, Taraba State, North-Eastern Nigeria, lasted for one week from November 12–18, 2023. The campaign involved 10 volunteers and reached four locations: Hyuku, Bye-Pyi, Rafin-kada Villages, and Wukari Main Town. The campaign activities were divided into three categories: pre-campaign activities, actual campaign/engagement with villagers, and the grand finale on November 18.
Pre-campaign activities involved visiting village leaders and town criers to mobilize the villagers. The campaign team, conducted sensitization about child sexual violence, its reality, perpetrators, healing, and justice. The outreach to the villages was impressive, and the campaign crew was expected to continue in touch with the villagers for further awareness creation and reporting purposes.
The campaign celebration on November 18, was attended by a total of 177 people, including students, parents, teachers, proprietors of Islamic schools, and the Conventional Western Education School. The campaign aimed to reach out to caregivers, all adolescents and children, including those in the rural areas.

Wukari-Taraba State Child trauma Campaign
A one day Child Trauma/Mental Health Campaign hosted by Suburban Healthcare Initiative (SHI) on the 30th of September, 2023 was attended by 71 participants comprising of School Proprietors, Administrators, Parents and Teachers in both Private and Public Schools. The eye-opening session is set to be the start of a new drive in the right direction among this care-givers and stakeholders in Child/Youth upbringing.
'From Harm to Healing' Child Trauma Summit - April, 2023
The summit was targeted at educators, administrators, parents and other caregivers. The first five years of a child was explored as a critical time for the successful cognitive, physical social, and emotional development. The role of the Adult in helping distressed youths in their teen years were discussed. Other topics critically considered included: Neurobiological Changes to the developing brain (0-18years). Signs and symptoms of Traumatic Stress in Children, Where the HARM begins: Impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)-Abuse, Neglect, and Family problems (Domestic Violence, Separation, Divorce alcohol/drug use, family member in jail & mental illness), Child Sexual Abuse is a silent epidemic affecting learning and mental Health.
